Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The purpose of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is to strengthen and improve our nation’s public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers. These activities will be determined by individual assessment. Monies allocated specifically for Youth between the ages of 14-24, Adults that are unemployed, underemployed or incumbent workers, individuals unemployed due to plant closure or long term unemployment, and individuals with limited to no work experience. The Workforce &  Business Development Program is staffed with individuals specifically trained to help Pike County residents in their employment/training efforts.
